I'm a National Expert and Candidate Master with over 15 years of teaching experience at post-secondary institutions. I've always loved both playing and coaching chess, and my peak chess rating is over 2200 CFC and 2400 at Lichess.org.
As a professional educator, I know how to break down complex concepts into manageable chunks and am able to combine this with my chess knowledge to teach chess effectively. I also understand that everyone learns in different ways and at different speeds and know how to adapt my lessons accordingly.

Playing chess at a high level and teaching chess effectively are two completely different skill sets. To coach effectively, one needs to be able to break down complex calculations, explain positional concepts clearly, and adapt to a student's individual thought process.
Any teacher can run moves through a computer chess engine and say whether a move is "good" or not, but it takes an experienced human teacher to explain the why of the moves, so that you can reproduce those moves without the computer program.
