Dan Pomerantz, M. Sc.
I founded Logical Minds Academy to offer structured, high-level mentorship to university students, ambitious school applicants, and adult lifelong learners alike. My mission in the academy is to help students develop independent problem-solving skills through 1-on-1 or small group instruction of Computer Science, Mathematics, and Chess.
- 15+ Years Higher-Ed Experience: Longtime higher-education lecturer at Dawson College and McGill University.
- 10 Years Industry Experience: Ex-Software Engineer at Microsoft and Ericsson.
- Degrees: Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Computer Science & B.Sc. in Mathematics and Computer Science (McGill University).
- Chess Credentials: National Expert and Candidate Master (Peak 2200+ CFC / ~1950 FIDE).

Playing chess at a high level and teaching chess effectively are two completely different skill sets. While Grandmasters possess deep intuition, the best coaches are those who know how to break down complex calculation, explain positional concepts clearly, and adapt to a student's individual thought process. My coaching combines National Expert playing strength with 15+ years of professional higher-education teaching experience.
