I'm a former Microsoft engineer turned professional educator with over 15 years of experience teaching both at post-secondary institutions and tutoring. I'm currently offering dedicated 1-on-1 tutoring and support for High School, GCSE, AP, and University Courses.
One of the biggest challenges a lot of students have is putting their pieces of knowledge and understanding together. Most people do know a lot about the subject, but they aren't able to apply their knowledge.
In a typical lesson, we'll work through problems interactively, and this will let you see how to apply the knowledge you already have, and build more knowledge on top of that. In doing so, we'll replace rote memorization with understanding and you'll build the confidence to solve similar problems when I'm not there.
In mathematics, there's very little need for rote memorization. While there are some key formulas to know, in practice it's much more important to know the ideas behind the formulas, specifically when to use them and why.
As a software developer, I applied math every day, and this experience enables me to ground the lessons in real-world, practical examples.
An advantage of 1-on-1 tutoring is you can learn at your own pace and focus on what you want. Lessons can cover all high school or undergraduate topics, including calculus, linear algebra, statistics, probability, analysis, and discrete mathematics.
Lessons are highly interactive. Rather than passively watching a video, you'll be engaged with the material at all times, solving exercises that get increasingly more challenging, and with me as a guide to prevent you from getting stuck.
In the first lesson, we'll discuss your needs and any external deadlines, and we'll use this to build a plan for the lessons.
Below are a couple standard tracks.
Comprehensive support for courses including AP Calculus, AP Statistics, GCSE Mathematics, and A-level Mathematics.
Targeted teaching for undergraduate coursework, continuing education students, and adult learners returning to math.
